Jharkhand to experience light to moderate rain today, low pressure over Bay of Bengal: IMD

Jamshedpur, Sept 6: Most parts of Jharkhand are likely to experience light to moderate rain today, said a forecast issued by IMD’s Ranchi Met Centre. Though no alert of heavy rain was issued but the forecast indicated light to moderate rain at many places.

Met officials said that satellite pictures suggested formation of a low pressure and an associate cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal. The low pressure is likely to result in heavy rain over several districts of Jharkhand around September 9, Friday.

Meanwhile, the state’s rain deficit stood at 25 per cent as of today.

Against a normal of 840 mm, the state has so far actually received 628 mm, a deficit of 25 per cent.

The discomfort index continued to be high across most districts today.
