Dhanbad, March 7: The national body of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has appointed Jharkhand’s Dr Santwana Sharan (Ramgarh) as vice-chairperson of East Zone women’s wing.
IMA national president Dr Sahajanand Prasad Singh while appointing Dr Sharan as the vice-chairperson of IMA East Zone women’s wing at JIMACON 2022 in Ranchi on Sunday evening said that a new responsibility has been given to her and she would play an important role in uplifting women’s health and awareness.
“Dr Santwana Sharan has been doing tremendous work for bailing out anaemic adolescent girls and pregnant women in the state. Her programme has helped in the improvement of women’s health in remote areas and her programme’s wheel did not stop even during corona lockdown,” he said.
On the occasion, Health Minister Banna Gupta also felicitated her for her outstanding efforts in solving women’s health problems and gave away a certificate.
Dr Santwana Sharan, who is also the national secretary of IMA’s ambitious programme ‘Mission Pink Health’, is spearheading the massive project across the state for awareness of adolescent girls for the past several years.
“Of course the new responsibility of IMA (East Zone vice-chairperson) has encouraged me to do more but I feel rather than big responsibility, the success of any programme depends on the strong team and skill of its members. Our team (doctors) is working with dedication in all districts of Jharkhand and only by their cooperation Mission Pink Health has become successful,” said Dr. Santwana.
IMA Jharkhand president Dr AK Singh, Ranchi IMA chapter joint secretary Dr Ajit Kumar, Thakur Mritunjay Singh, Dr Swaraj and Dr Uday Srivastava of Ramgarh has highly appreciated the nomination of Dr Sharan as women’s wing East Zone vice-chairperson and expressed hope that she would discharge her new responsibility with dedication in the interest of women’s health in the state.
