New Delhi, Nov 29: India’s Reliance Jio experienced an outage earlier today, which prevented many Jio subscribers from using SMS or placing or receiving calls. Users began reporting problems on November 29 early in the morning nationwide, and the outage continued until 9 am.
A number of users complained on social media that they haven’t been able to make calls since the morning. When some users awoke in the morning, they were also unable to send messages. Despite the interruption, mobile data services appear to be operating correctly for all users. The only affected services are calling and SMS.
The website that tracks outages, downdetector, reports that Jio stopped functioning for many users in India between 6am and 9am. According to the website, 37% of users reported signal issues, 37% of users reported being unable to place calls or send messages, and 26% of users reported being unable to access mobile internet.
Cities affected by the Jio outage include, among others, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata.
