Dhanbad, Feb 3: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) will celebrate its foundation day for the 4th time in days as it completes 51 years on February 4.

JMM was founded at midnight on February 4, 1972, by separate state movement leaders Shibu Soren, Binod Bihari Mahto and AK Roy at the Golf Ground in Dhanbad.

Since then, the party had been celebrating foundation day at midnight. Even in the 90s when the party was divided, both factions celebrated at the Dhanbad Golf Ground at night.

In 2020, JMM celebrated its foundation day for the first time in the District Board Ground of Dhanbad and in 2021, the party celebrated its foundation day in Dhanbad Town hall in the wake of the Corona pandemic.

In 2022 again, the foundation day was celebrated at the Golf Ground but during the day.

The senior party leader and Tundi MLA Mathura Prasad Mahto said that the 51st foundation day on February 4 would be historical at the Golf Ground. Party founder Dishum Guru Shibu Soren and chief minister Hemant Soren along with senior leaders of the party would participate in it.

“The programme would be completed in a day.  It would start at 12 noon and would be concluded at 4 pm. Shibu Soren and chief minister Hemant Soren will come from Ranchi at 12:30 PM and return by chopper at 3:30 PM,” said MLA Mathura Prasad Mahto.

Since the JMM district unit is defunct, Mathura Prasad Mahto is monitoring the preparation of the 51st foundation day celebration.

MLA Prasad said that in the celebration, JMM would show its urban strength. On the occasion, several leaders and workers of AJSU and Bhartiya Janata Party would join JMM in presence of Shibu Soren and chief minister Hemant Soren.
