Dumka, April 4: Undeterred by the political consequences he may have to face for violating the ‘party line,’ the firebrand JMM MLA from Borio (Sahebganj) Lobin Hembrom has vowed to continue with the agitational recourse to press for the demand for introducing state’s domicile policy on the basis of the 1932 land records.
In a similar gesture, Lobin announced imposing a Jharkhand bandh on May 5 after attending a series of programmes in different parts of the state over the issue which has proved to be the bone of contention for the ruling dispensation.
“To begin with, a Jan Aakrosh rally is scheduled to be held in Pakur on Tuesday where I am invited to address the gathering in the support of the immediate need of a domicile policy on the basis of 1932 land records,” Lobin stated, adding he would then stay in the state capital for the next four to five days to finalise the schedule of his visit to the entire state for the very purpose.
Reiterating his stand to have not been bypassing the party line anyway as was alleged by another party leader Stephen Marandi, Lobin said that the former should himself introspect before levelling charges against him for betrayal.
“I did not ever join any party and won assembly election independently in 1995 after having been denied the ticket, unlike Stephen who for his political aspirations joined the Congress before joining the JMM again,” Lobin, who along with Sita Soren, the JMM MLA from Jama and widow of the late Durga Soren, the elder son of the JMM patriarch have turned his guns on the chief minister and party’s working president Hemant Soren over the way of its functioning.
Lobin also refuted the allegations of playing puppet in the hands of the BJP to destabilise the Hemant Soren government and said he still followed the path of the JMM Supremo.
This is however not an isolated instance of the MLA duo, both belonging to the Santhal Pargana otherwise believed to be the JMM’s bastion, embarrassing their own government. They have, on previous occasions also, raised points against indiscriminate mining and corruption both on the floor of the assembly and outside.
Meanwhile, JMM insiders say that action against both the dissident MLAs was on the anvil for publicly questioning the party line.
