Dhanbad, Nov 23: Five family members of Ramgarh district were killed in a major road accident on GT road (NH-2)  at Kalidih under Govindpur police station, around 25 km away from district headquarters, on Tuesday morning.

Govindpur police station officer in-charge, Umesh Kumar, said that the incident occurred around 6.15-6.30 am. The family was reportedly going to Asansol (West Bengal) from Ramgarh district by their Swift Dzire car. The car was reportedly going with a high speed and skidded off the road near Kalidih Bridge and hit a wall.

Two male, two female, including driver of car and a child were among the deceased. On the basis of their Aadhar cards, the police identified two members as Wasim Akram and Shakil  Akram, residents of Ghatotand Ghati in Ramgarh district.

On receiving the information, the Govindpur police reached the accident spot and brought out all injured persons with help of local villagers.

“All five car riders had died on the spot. The car was brought out from beneath the bridge with the help of a crane,” said OC Umesh Kumar.

He further said that the family members of the deceased were duly informed about the incident and bodies have been sent for postmortem at the Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad.
