Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a sharp attack on the BJP and the Election Commission while addressing a public rally in Cooch Behar. She questioned the rise of political violence during elections and accused opponents of disturbing peace in the state.

Alleges Violence During Poll-Controlled Administration

Mamata Banerjee claimed that incidents of violence occur whenever law and order comes under the control of the Election Commission during polling. She suggested that such situations repeatedly create unrest during elections in the state.

Targets BJP Over Development and False Claims

Calling the BJP a party of slogans and false promises, she said the party had failed to deliver meaningful work. She also accused the BJP of obstructing development projects and spreading misinformation against the state government. According to her, attempts are also being made to bring outsiders into West Bengal for political purposes.

Receives Support From Opposition Leaders

The Chief Minister said she had received calls of support from several opposition leaders, including Uddhav Thackeray, MK Stalin, Tejashwi Yadav, and Akhilesh Yadav. She added that many leaders believe the BJP is creating unnecessary trouble in West Bengal.

Appeal to Voters

Referring to her earlier message to voters, Mamata urged people to strongly resist any attempt to take away their voting rights and to respond democratically through the ballot.
