Ranchi, May 30: The newly upgraded model schools in the state are to soon begin the process of admissions. Even though the classes in these model schools are to begin from the session next year, officials are trying to increase the number of students to make sure that the infrastructure, once completed, doesn’t remain empty till the next session.
The Jharkhand Academic Council, in this regard, has issued a directive to all the Block Education Extension Officers (BEEOs) of the state to enrol children in model schools as well as to ask them to fill up the examination application form.
For this, an outline has been prepared under the leadership of Mahip Singh, Secretary of the Board.
Sources have claimed that after this, all the schools located in the block were instructed to ensure that at least 10 students who have passed class 5 or are studying in class 6 fill out the application for enrollment in the model schools. Along with this, the application of at least 200 students from each block has been asked to be filled.
The Secretary has also said that after the review, all the BEEOs have been asked to follow the instructions given, and if not followed, strict action will be taken against them.
Rajesh Sharma, Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy said, “The model schools at present are not new, instead, older schools are being upgraded. Several of these school buildings are still under construction. However, once complete, these buildings will remain empty till admissions in the session next year. We are also hopeful that the building will be complete by October or November this year. Even the labs will be ready by then.”
“Just to make sure that the buildings don’t remain empty, we, at present are trying to increase the number of student admissions in said schools. This is why we are trying to increase the number of students till the infrastructure is ready,” he added.
When asked about the expected number of students to take admissions in the model schools, he said, “We don’t have a set benchmark as such for the exact number of students. However, we are hopeful that by the end of the term of the Chief Minister, at least 15 lakh students will have taken admission in the 4000 schools.”
