Jamshedpur, May 13: Gautam Sutradhar took over as the new director of NIT Jamshedpur.
He was previously working as director at NIT Manipur and has been appointed as director in NIT after completing his tenure of five years.
Although his appointment letter had come from the Ministry of Education, Government of India on May 2 itself, but due to being relieved from NIT Manipur and completing other formalities, Sutradhar was able to join the institute on May 12.
The outgoing director Karunesh Kumar Shukla will contribute to his parent institute NIT Allahabad after completing his tenure at NIT Jamshedpur.
Shukla has also been appointed as director in NIT Bhopal for five years.
Gautam Sutradhar, the new director of NIT Jamshedpur, holds an MTech degree in mechanical engineering department in Foundry Technology from IIT Kharagpur and a PhD from BIT Mesra.
Sutradhar is originally a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Jadavpur University Kolkata and is a country’s well-known expert in foundry technology.
Soon after taking charge as new director of NIT Jamshedpur, Sutradhar held a meeting with the registrar, dean, head of the department, and officials of all the divisions, and discussed about the action plan for the overall development of the institute.
