Daltonganj, June 30: The two waterfalls in the Palamu Tiger Reserve seem to be contradicting each other this Monsoon.

One is the Lodh Falls in the Mahuadanr range of the PTR which is turbulent this year and has a gush of water as if it will pierce the rocks beneath.

Mukesh Kumar, the deputy director South division of PTR, said that the Lodh Falls is in its full water form with speed and volume.

The other is the Mirchaiya Falls which is in the Garu east range. It is totally dry till the report last came in early Thursday morning.

The June rain has not been able to revitalize the Mirchaiya falls with water. It went dry at the start of April.

Mukesh Kumar said he is neither worried nor sad if Mirchaiya Falls has not been revived with water. “We know there have been rains this outgoing month June,” he said.

“These June rains, we believe, have been well absorbed by our forest leaving ‘ no drop of rainwater for the Mirchaiya Falls to revive. Our forest in PTR has made significant utilisation of the rainwater,” Mukesh added.

He said the Mirchaiya Falls will revive in July when rains are expected. He asked the tourists not to feel sad if today or tomorrow they find their Mirchaiya Falls all dry and full. He said that the forests are detaining rainwater which is beneficial to all ecosystems.
