Ranchi, Feb 21: Covid-19 negative certificate is no bar to prevent a patient from getting treated in any hospitals across the capital city.
A section of doctors across the city said, “Patient hi nhi rahega toh Covid-19 negative certificate ka kya karenge” which means if the patient does not survive then what we will do with the Covid-19 negative certificate.
Talking to different private as well as government hospitals in the city they said that the patient’s health is the priority, though the covid-19 test report is mandatory but that does not affect the treatment of a patient. However, the covid-19 test report is required as it will help in curbing the infection of covid to other patients admitted to the hospital.
“If the patient comes in an emergency then he/she immediately gets the treatment but at the same time, the sample for covid-19 test is collected and till the time report doesn’t come he/she is kept in isolation. After the result for covid-19 comes he/she is shifted to the general ward depending upon the result,” Medica hospital management said.
“In order to maintain the safety and security of the other patients admitted in the hospital we demand a covid-19 negative certificate or else person can give his samples to the hospital itself for the covid-19 test but that will not affect the treatment of the patient,” the Orchid hospital management said.
“Depending upon the scenario in which the patient is being admitted the covid-19 negative certificate is applicable. Before performing any surgery the covid test is mandatory. However, if an emergency scenario is there then it is not required but before shifting the patient in the ward covid test is being done,” RIMS Public Relation Officer Dipendra Kumar Sinha said.
IMA Ranchi chapter, Joint Secretary Dr Ajit Kumar said that there are no regulations from the state government regarding the covid-19 certificate before treating the patient but it is at the discretion of the hospital and the doctors.
“It is best to get the covid test done as it will help in keeping the positive patients away from the negative patients and further curbing the spread of the virus,” Dr Kumar said.
