Ranchi, Jan.22: City resident Anuranjan Ashok, who knocked on the door of Jharkhand High Court demanding a CBI probe into sub inspector Lalji Yadav suicide case, got a call threatening him of dire consequences in case of his delay in withdrawal of the petition within 24 hours.
The caller identified himself as Mohammed Alam and said that he was released from the jail yesterday. The petitioner has included the name of state minister Mithilesh Thakur in the list of respondents. On this, the caller who called Anuranjan on Friday at 3.41p.m., took a strong exception and threatened to shoot him to death.
An FIR was registered in this connection at Pundag OP and police have started the investigation.
Ashok had filed a PIL on Friday. Other than state minister Thakur, the list of respondents in the petition included the names of superintendent of police of Palamu besides Veenu Thakur (brother of Mithilesh Thakur), DTO and the SDPO.
The petitioner apart from the CBI probe has also urged the court to assess the property of respondents. The petition mentioned that after relatives of Yadav filed a criminal writ petition in the high court and registered an FIR in the matter, they are getting regular threats and are being pressured to withdraw the case.
Through the petition Ashok informed the court that reason behind the suicide is Yadav’s attempt to save coal and other minerals from loot.
The 2012 batch sub inspector had committed suicide on January 10. The incident took place four days after SP Chandan Sinha suspended him from the post of the officer-in-charge, Nawa Bazar police station following allegations of misbehaviour against the DTO.
