Jamshedpur, Aug 4: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay online foundation stone for the redevelopment of 508 railway stations including four in the South Eastern Railway zone under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme on August 6, Sunday.
The four railway stations under the South Eastern Railway zone include Barbil, Rajkharsawan, Manoharpur and Rajgangpur.
Rajkharsawan and Manoharpur are located in the West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand while Barbil and Rajgangpur are located in the neighbouring state of Odisha.
All four railway stations to be covered under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme falls under South Eastern Railway’s Chakradharpur division.
The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is a plan that envisions the re-development of railway stations. It aims to improve the infrastructure of selected railway stations on a continuous basis. It aims to upgrade a total of 1,309 railway stations across the country in different phases.
The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme was introduced by the Indian Railways in the year 2022.
The Prime Minister will lay the online foundation of the railway stations from New Delhi. He will be accompanied by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
Railway sources said that under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme parking facilities, a new upper class waiting lounge and several other amenities will come up at the Barbil railway station.
The station will also see the development of a circulating area with monuments flags, green patches and sitting facilities.
Lift and escalator facilities will come up at Rajgangpur railway station besides platform shades and proper signages.
The redevelopment plan at the Rajganjpur railway station is expected to entail an investment of Rs 11.70 crore.
Manoharpur and Rajkharsswan railway stations would also get numerous facilities under the redevelopment plan.
The railways have earmarked around Rs 18 crores for infrastructure development in both stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
