Jamshedpur, Dec 12: Several areas serviced by Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam (JBVNL) in the city and its outskirts including Mango, Jugsalai and Chhota Govindpur, continued to suffer a power crisis since Monday morning due to short supply from the state load dispatch centre.

Over a lakh residents of Mango experienced erratic power supply from the morning as the power substation at Kuar Basti and Dimna are getting a meagre supply.

There was no power from 7:30 am to 9 am in places like Zakirnagar, Daiguttu, Dimna Road and the areas around Payal Cinema and Post Office Road.

“Both Golmuri and Gamharia power grid substations are getting inadequate power from state load dispatch and is causing power crisis,” an official of JBVNL’s Singhbhum electricity supply area.

The Golmuri power grid station is currently getting a meagre 20MW against its requirement of 45MW, while the Gamharia grid substation, which supplies power to Adityapur industrial area and other residential areas, is getting around 85MW against its requirement of 120MW.

Residents of Chhota Govindpur and Ghorabandha near Telco complained of prolonged power cuts since morning. They also complained that despite winter this year the power cuts are very frequent.

Power also played hide-and-seek in Jugsalai, Adityapur and Sundernagar.

A JBVNL official said that there are no local faults. The impending power crisis is due to a short supply from the state load dispatch centre. Efforts are being made to resolve the issue,” he said.
