New Delhi, Feb 22: Following claims of threats to life from pro-Khalistan activists, dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was granted Z-Plus level protection upon his release from prison.
The jailed sect leader’s request for furlough was allowed earlier this month, prompting the Haryana government to provide him top-tier security protection.
On February 7, Ram Rahim, who is serving a life sentence for the murder of former journalist Ramchandra Chhatrapati and the rape of two Dera members, was granted a 21-day vacation from Rohtak’s Sunaria jail.
In 2017, a special CBI court in Panchkula found the 54-year-old guilty in this case.
