Ramgarh court convicts youth for attempting to rape minor girl

Ramgarh, Nov 29: A youth named Chhotu Singh, who was accused of a rape attempt with a four-year-old girl, was convicted in the court of Principal District and Sessions Judge Gautam Kumar Brajesh on Monday.

Case number 348/2012 pertains to Ramgarh police station. The mother of a four-year-old girl had registered a case against Chhotu Singh, a resident of the urban area, accusing him of attempting to rape her daughter.

Public Prosecutor RB Rai said that according to the victim’s mother when she went near the girl after hearing her cry, she found that the accused youth was trying to rape her. On raising alarm, the locals beat up the accused and handed him over to the Ramgarh police.

On the basis of the statement of six witnesses, the accused was convicted under ten POSCO Acts. The quantum of punishment will be announced on Wednesday, November 30.
