Ramgarh, May 21: The court of Additional Sessions Judge I Sheshnath Singh, while hearing Mandu police station case number 33/22, imposed life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 40,000 on Deepak Ganjhu, convicted in the case. The court imposed life imprisonment (under the 6 POCSO Act) and a fine of Rs 20,000 each under two different POCSO Acts (6 POCSO Act and 10 POCSO Act) on Saturday.
In case of non-payment of the fine under the 6 POCSO Act, the court has asked the convict to undergo simple imprisonment for an additional three years. And in the 10 POCSO Act, the culprit has been sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of 20 thousand. In case of non-payment of the fine, he will have to undergo simple imprisonment for an additional one year.
Before sentencing the convict, the court pronounced the sentence after listening to the arguments presented by the in-charge Public Prosecutor RB Rai besides the testimony of all the 10 witnesses including the investigating officer Parikshit Mahto and female doctor Sabita Kumari Verma.
The father of the victim minor girl had registered a case in Mandu police station regarding the incident. It was told in his application that on February 25, 2022, his 15-year-old daughter comes to him crying. The minor girl told her father that the accused Deepak Ganjhu was having a physical relationship with her for two years by coaxing and threatening her. After knowing about this, the accused also threatened to kill the girl.
