Ranchi, June 25: Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth has criticised filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma for his allegedly derogatory tweets on the Presidential election nominee, Droupadi Murmu.
The filmmaker tweeted, “If DRAUPADI is the PRESIDENT who are the PANDAVAS ? And more importantly, who are the KAURAVAS?” He later clarified it and tweeted, “This was said just in an earnest irony and not intended in any other way ..Draupadi in Mahabharata is my faviourate character but Since the name is such a rarity I just remembered the associated characters and hence my expression. Not at all intended to hurt sentiments of anyone.”
Sanjay Seth criticised the filmmaker and said that this is a misuse of freedom of expression.

“The presidential election is taking place and look at the language of this filmmaker. A tribal woman is going to be our President and he is passing such derogatory comments. What a disgusting comment this is. Legal action should be taken against such disgusting people. How low will you all fall in the name of freedom of expression?” the BJP MP tweeted.
Notably, a BJP leader from Telangana G Narayan Reddy has reportedly lodged a complaint against Ram Gopal Varma for his allegedly derogatory tweets on Droupadi Murmu.
