Ranchi, Dec 30: The Director of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Dr Kameshwar Prasad on Friday said that in order to become a hospital like All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi, it is really crucial to have adequate manpower.
While addressing the media, he said that both AIIMS and RIMS have almost equal numbers of beds but the number of staff in RIMS is not even half of what AIIMS currently have, which is approx 5,000.
Moreover, he added that the issue of lack of reagents in the hospital will also be solved soon and for this, pathological services will be started for ten years on a rental basis. He said that the old machines will be replaced with new ones.
The director further said that patients will get medicines at a cheaper rate in RIMS premises from January as the new Amrit Pharmacy will be starting in the coming month. It will be started near the old emergency. He said that earlier as well Jan Aushadi Kendra was set up in the premises to provide generic medicines to patients.
During the press conference, the director gave the information that DM critical care course will also start soon in RIMS. Apart from the DM course in Neurology and Hospital Management course will also start in the coming months.
Notably, the number of nurses in RIMS has gone up to 640 after 270 new nurses joined recently. The director said that a hundred more nurses will be added soon to the list.
Furthermore, the director gave the information that the security of RIMS will be handled by Home Guards. He said that Everest Human Resource was hired for security purposes in 2013 for a three-year contract. In 2017, Measure Vimla Enterprises was given the contract but was removed after just one day.
Moreover, he added that RIMS is on alert mode for Covid-19. For this, the 330-bed hospital is ready and 100 beds have been kept for emergency purposes. Around 30 ventilators have been kept for Covid-19 patients. A total of 20,000 testing kits have also been ordered.
Similarly, a total of 768 consumables are available for genome sequencing. The hospital is ready with 2,200 oxygen-supported beds to fight Covid-19.
