Ranchi: Police arrest two youths who tried extorting Rs 10 lakh by impersonating as police

Ranchi, Nov 30: Two youths, who attempted to extort Rs 10 lakh from a land dealer impersonating themselves as police officers, were arrested on Wednesday. They were identified as Keshav Singh and Hritik Yadav.

The breakthrough came after receiver of extortion call and SMSs, Bablu Choudhary, knocked on the door of Sukhdeonagar police station and officials of the police station swung into action.

Police took help from a technical cell to reach the criminals, S.P. (Rural) Naushad Alam, having additional charge of SP (City), said about the breakthrough in a press conference. Alam said that those arrested have criminal background.

After the press conference the youths were produced before the court, from where they were sent to Birsa Munda Central Jail in a 14-day judicial custody.
