Ranchi, Mar 11: With the arrival of the season of Holi, the Ranchi district food safety officer has swung into action where the food vendors and restaurants of Bundu were thoroughly checked for any kind of adulteration in the food.

As many as six food vendors and restaurants were charged with a total fine of Rs 25,000 for not maintaining cleanliness, absence of license number, presence of starch in the milk products and colour adulteration.

District Food Safety Officer Subir Ranjan said that in view of the upcoming festival, an investigation of food is being done to protect the people of the district from getting any kind of adulterated food.

“During the season of festivals the demand for food items goes high for which the vendors tend to use adulteration to fulfil the demand, but we with our mobile food testing labs are active to deal with such cases. All the six food vendors accepted their mistake and have pledged to not use any kind of adulteration in future,” Ranjan said.
