Dhanbad, Aug 3: The All India FCI VSS Employees Association of Fertilizer Corporation has rejected the job offer of Fertilizer Corporation of India Limited and has asked the management to withdraw the vacancy order immediately.
The association shot off a memorandum to the chairman cum managing director (CMD) on Wednesday urging that rather than giving the job to aged VSS employees of FCI, the opportunity should be given to their dependents. “So modify the vacancy order and give chance to young blood,” the memo said.
The Fertilizer Corporation India Limited (FCIL) issued a vacancy circular on July 31 for its retired employees of Sindri, Gorakhpur, Talcher (Odisha), Ramagundam (Telangana) and Korba (Chhatisgarh) units for the post of consultant/ advisor at Sindri, Gorakhpur and Noida fertilizer public sector units.
AIFCIVSS Employees Association President Sewa Singh said that the retired employees have already completed their age for working. It is better to give the opportunity to their dependents, who can learn the work in three-month training for consultant/ advisor in the closed factory.
“So we have urged the FCIL CMD to withdraw the vacancy circular for retired persons immediately and issue a fresh one with modifications,” said Sewa Singh.
FCIL closed its loss-making units of Sindri, Ramagundam, Gorakhpur, Barauni and other units across the country in December 2002. The management gave forceful retirement to thousands of its employees of these units.
As per the new vacancy circular, the maximum age of an applicant should not be more than 64 years. The deployment would be for six months in the initial stage and it would be extended further on basis of performance during the period.
Vacancy notification has been issued based on an 18-year-old (2004) circular. On December 31, 2002, the FCI employees were forced to take VSS (Voluntary Separation Scheme) from the job.
On the directive of the fertilizer ministry in 2004, the FCI management sought applications from the VSS employees who had at least 10 services remaining so that they could be adjusted in other fertilizer public sector units of the country. But those PSUs refused to adjust them saying that there is no vacancy in their organization.
Now, the FCIL management has issued a vacancy to adjust them as consultants/advisors in the finance, technical, legal and estate departments of units.
