Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, addressing the state’s growth trajectory, highlighted the success of his last visit to the World Economic Forum in Davos, where Telangana secured investments worth ₹40,000 crore. This year, Reddy aims to take the state’s investment portfolio to the next level with a target of ₹1 lakh crore.
Speaking to India Today News Director Rahul Kanwal, Reddy revealed that 14 companies have signed MoUs with the Telangana government, promising 18 projects. Among these, 17 are underway, while the Adani pump storage project remains pending. “Last time, we achieved ₹40,000 crore; this time, we are aiming for ₹1 lakh crore,” Reddy said.
Hyderabad as a Global Investment Hub
Reddy underscored Telangana’s ambition to compete not just with other Indian states but with global cities. “I don’t compete with Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, or Karnataka. My competition is with cities like New York, Tokyo, Dubai, and Singapore,” he remarked.
He praised Hyderabad’s business-friendly ecosystem, citing the city’s central location, connectivity, and expertise in IT, pharma, and artificial intelligence. “Hyderabad provides a secure and profitable environment for investments, backed by policies designed to foster growth,” Reddy added.
Telangana’s Unique Approach
Highlighting Telangana’s advancements, Reddy pointed to amendments in investment policies and a focus on emerging sectors like green energy, defence, AI, and quantum computing. “Of the three COVID-19 vaccines developed in India, one was produced in Telangana. This shows our strength in innovation and healthcare,” he said, also paying tribute to PV Narasimha Rao, a Telangana-born former Prime Minister credited with India’s economic liberalisation.
Dismisses Political Rivalry
When asked about competition from other leaders and states, Reddy dismissed comparisons, stating, “Times have changed. Leadership evolves. My focus remains on development, not rivalry.” He downplayed political opposition from the BRS and BJP, stating that his attention is on progress, with elections still four years away.
Davos Achievements and Future Goals
This year’s focus at the World Economic Forum included data centres, green energy, and AI. Reddy emphasized that Davos is not just about attracting investments but also about gaining insights. “It’s a platform to learn and bring global ideas back to Telangana,” he said.
