Ranchi, May 22: A patient at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in the Jharkhand capital committed suicide by jumping from the third floor of the institute where he was undergoing treatment in the neurosurgery department on the same floor.

He was identified as Lakshman Ram. He was admitted to the unit of Dr C.B. Sahay. The reason behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained. The body has been taken for autopsy in the same institute.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Bariatu police station, however, said that the primary investigation suggested that he was mentally disturbed.

“He reached Loharddaga at his in-laws’ residence from Chhattisgarh. In Lohardaga, he was first admitted at Sadar Hospital, from where he was referred to RIMS. His wife said at Lohardaga he had once jumped from the first floor,” the OC said.
