CONRAD DIAS
Ranchi, June 20: Despite Ranchi Municipal Corporation’s (RMC) Rs. 3.50 crore of fine collection, the condition of garbage pollution in the city is in a concerning stage. Piles of garbage in various parts of the city are still needed to be cleaned. Many drains are still in a poor condition and are expected to get worse due to the monsoon.
Notably, after the removal of the garbage collecting company CDC, RMC is yet to release a tender to hire a new company for garbage collection but none has been appointed yet. In the past, RMC had removed two other garbage collecting companies as well.
Deputy Mayor Sanjeev Vijayvargiya spoke to lagatar24.com and informed that RMC is doing their best to deal with the garbage issue in the city.
“The corporation has been collecting garbage across the city and is trying their best to deal with the garbage problem in the city. It is also the responsibility of the people to not throw garbage on the street or drains,” he said.
He also mentioned that the date for the tender to hire a new company for garbage collection is yet to be finalised.
Notably, RMC had also warned people from throwing garbage on drains during monsoon and if anyone is found doing so, they would be fined anywhere between Rs. 500 to 25,000.
RMC’s city manager Ambuj Kumar Singh had earlier said that the enforcement team of RMC are keeping an eye on people who tend to throw garbage on the road and are regularly fining such people. He added that in the last five years, RMC has collected Rs. 3.50 crore as fine.
