Ranchi, Jan 1: Vegetable vendors selling vegetables on roads between Lalpur Chowk and Kokar will be shifted to the Ranchi Municipal Corporation’s vegetable market near the Distillery Bridge. As per information, the shopkeepers will shift to the vegetable market before January 15.
Officials believe that this step will help relieving the area of the long traffic jams. Additional Municipal Commissioner of Ranchi Municipal Corporation, Kunwar Singh Pahan has informed of this move. He said that around 630 shopkeepers have applied for shops in the vegetable market. Scrutiny has been done and the first phase will have 250 shopkeepers shifting to the vegetable market. Shops will be allotted to the remaining shopkeepers in the second phase. Notably, Chief Minister Hemant Soren had inaugurated the said vegetable market on 15 November.
It has been long since the vegetable shops on the roadside have been the cause of long traffic jams between Lalpur and the Distillery bridge. Parking has also been arranged for buyers as well as shopkeepers in the market complex.
