New Delhi, March 3: Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi has been admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi due to fever. The hospital stated that she is being watched over and undergoing testing, and that her status is stable.

Gandhi was admitted to the hospital on Thursday, and now Dr. Arup Basu, Senior Consultant Department of Chest Medicine, and his staff are caring for him.

DS Rana, Chairman, Trust Society, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital said, “Gandhi has been admitted to the hospital under the supervision of Arup Basu, senior consultant, Department of Chest Medicine, and his team, on account of fever.”

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Delhi's Sir Gangaram Hospital due to fever on 2nd March, says the hospital.

She has been admitted to a hospital twice already this year. Sonia Gandhi had been treated for a viral respiratory illness at a Delhi hospital in January.

She just returned from the 85th Congress plenary meeting in Raipur. Gandhi made reference to her political retirement during the ceremony and expressed her happiness that her “innings may close with the Bharat Jodo Yatra.”

On the first day of the meeting, the Congress Steering Committee decided against holding elections for the Working Committee, the top body of the party, and gave Mallikarjun Kharge the go-ahead to designate its members.

Sonia Gandhi handed over control of the 137-year-old organisation to Kharge, a devoted supporter, in October following back-to-back electoral losses, years of internal fighting for a reform, and an exodus of leaders. The Gandhis, who are regarded as the party’s founding family, have a strong grip on it.
