Dhanbad, Dec 28: Tata Steel Foundation Jharia Division has kick-started coaching facilities for 1,500 pre-matric poor students of the region to prep them up.
An official of Tata Steel Jharia division said that classes are being organized physically at nine centres in the lease –hold areas to provide facilities to the students near their house. For the new session 2021-22, the foundation held an inauguration cum orientation programme for teachers, parents and villagers.
“Objective of the pre-matric classes is to provide quality tuition to students studying in government and private (Jharkhand Board) schools from class VI to X in leasehold areas of Jamadoba and Sijua group. The coaching is provided in subjects like English, Mathematics and Science for improving the matriculation results,” said the official.
The foundation has been organizing coaching classes since 2012. But due to COVID restrictions, the classes were conducted online in the 2020-21 sessions.
With the state government opening up schools gradually from class VI to class X, the coaching classes are now being organized physically from the current session.
The passing percentage of students has witnessed an increase from 70 percent to 92.14 percent over a period of eight years.
Chief of Sijua Group Narendra Gupta, Chief of Jamadoba Group Mayank Shekhar, Head of Administration Bhawani Singh Nirwan and representatives from community Kalicharan Mahato, Abhimanyu Mahato, Kailash Mahato, Jagannath Mahato, Krishna Mahato, and Manu Mahato were present on the occasion of inauguration of coaching classes.
