Jamshedpur, April 2: As many as 10 new units will soon come up at Jharkhand’s first Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) at Adityapur in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district.
A notification for allotment and allocation of the 10 more new units has been done.
Officials looking after the affairs of the ambitious Rs.186 crore EMC project said till now 51 electronics manufacturing units, mostly suppliers of automotive electronics parts to Tata Motors have been allotted land at the project site along the Tata- Kandra Road.
Around 21 electronic manufacturing units have been allotted land in the year 2021.
Officials said the EMC will start functioning in a full-fledged manner in another six months or so.
The only of its kind Electronic Manufacturing Cluster was inaugurated online by chief minister Hemant Soren in December 2020. The Covid-19 pandemic had delayed the project.
The union government has given Rs 42 crore for the project while the Jharkhand government contributed Rs 60 crore. Jharkhand Industrial Area Development Authority had sanctioned Rs 50 crore for the project.
Earlier, March 2019 was the deadline for the completion of the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster which is spread over 82.49 acres of land.
For the project, JIADA, the chief promoter of the project, had signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with the department of electronics and information technology (DeitY) under the Union ministry of communications and IT.
Adityapur already houses an auto cluster, also the state’s first, that benefits over 700 entrepreneurs.
President of Adityapur Small Industries Association (ASIA) Santosh Khetan said, “We look forward to seeing more action at the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster in the coming months. The project got delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.”
