New Delhi, May 25: NIA Court in Delhi awarded life imprisonment to Yasin Malik, who had earlier pleaded guilty to all the charges, including those under the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), in a terror funding case.

Malik was found guilty by a Delhi court last week after pleading guilty in 2017 to allegations of terror funding, propagating terrorism, and secessionist operations in Kashmir.
Malik had told the court that he was not contesting the charges, which included sections 16 (terrorist act), 17 (fundraising for terrorist act), 18 (conspiracy to commit terrorist act), and 20 (member of terrorist gang or organisation) of the UAPA, as well as sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 124-A (sedition) of the IPC.
Meanwhile, shutdown has taken place in sections of Srinagar ahead of the judgement, to avert any law and order issues, security troops have been deployed in the city.
