The second Foreign Office Consultation, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), took place on August 10, 2015, in New Delhi.

India and Laos have “long-standing, friendly, and mutually supportive relations.”, according to the MEA. The opinions of the two parties frequently diverge in international forums on topics of shared interest. Laos additionally backs India’s claim for permanent membership in the UN Security Council.

Laos is a part of India’s extended neighbourhood because Myanmar is the sole country separating it from India’s North East. According to the MEA, “As the Indian presence grows and the success stories become more, India-Lao relations in different spheres are likely to grow.”
