Ranchi, Aug.10: Anger of unemployed youths erupted today when the slogan of ‘Hemant Soren Murdabad’ was heard at Morabadi ground on the birthday of the chief minister, who had promised jobs for the unemployed during elections but failed to provide the same when came into power.
Unemployed youths had assembled in the ground to take out a march from there to the CM’s official residence to mount pressure on the CM to provide jobs to the unemployed in accordance with his promises during the election campaign.
Though the alert district administration did not allow them to move away from Bapu Vatika by converting the historic Morabadi ground into a cantonment but couldn’t stop them to make their anger felt across the state through different social media and electronic media channels turned up for coverage.
Two agitating youths fainted during their agitation and the administration had to take them to the hospital for proper treatment but all youths did not retreat.
“Jab Jab Chhatra Bola Hai, Tab Tab Sarkar Ka Raj Sinhasan Dola Hai,” they were heard shouting amid the presence of hundreds of police personnel around them to ensure that they could not progress towards the CM’s residence.
“Whatever promises the CM had made before the election has not been fulfilled so far. The government has not started recruitment so far. The CM has declared 2021 as the year of recruitment but more than seven months of the year have passed and no appointment has been made so far,” an agitating youth was heard saying.
Among the agitators, the majority were those who were selected for jobs in Jharkhand Home Guard, Panchayat Offices, and colleges but despite selection, they did not get job opportunities despite several attempts by them and several assurances from the government.
In the wake of agitation, proper security arrangements were made across the city. Police personnel equipped with all weapons to control the riot were noticed standing along both sides of Birsa Munda Rajpath connecting the CM house with Project Bhawan secretariat.
Officer-in-charge of Lalpur police station, Arvind Kumar, present at the place of demonstration for maintenance of law and order said the situation is under control.
“The number of agitating youths is hardly 300 and we are also present in the same strength. Everything is peaceful so far and the situation is under control,” OC Kumar said.
