Lucknow: On the final day of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly’s monsoon session, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a scathing attack on Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav, calling him a “frog in a well” who only sees his own family while the world moves ahead. Speaking during a discussion on the government’s vision document, he said SP’s governance was marked by lawlessness, while the double-engine BJP government has accelerated the state’s development.

Development Projects Under BJP Rule

The CM clarified that no schools are being shut down, but the government plans to create integrated campuses from pre-primary to senior secondary levels. He highlighted ongoing work on 22 expressways, including the Ganga Expressway from Meerut to Prayagraj, touted as the country’s largest. He also noted India’s first rapid metro between Meerut and Delhi, the country’s largest rail network in UP, four operational airports, and the upcoming Jewar airport, set to be India’s biggest.

Criticism of SP’s Priorities and Governance

Yogi took a dig at SP’s disinterest in Mathura-Vrindavan development, recalling their 2016 statement about building a memorial for Duryodhan. He also called SP leaders “kuon ka mandook” (well frogs) and redefined their PDA slogan as “Parivar Development Authority,” accusing them of promoting family interests over public welfare. He further contrasted SP’s era—when farmers suffered, migration was rampant, nepotism thrived, and criminals roamed freely—with today’s “zero tolerance” policy against crime.

UP’s Economic Growth and Vision

The CM said that under PM Narendra Modi’s vision since 2014, India has become the world’s fourth-largest economy in 2025. He noted that UP, home to 16% of India’s population, had its GDP in decline under SP rule but has now maintained healthy growth even during the pandemic, shedding its “BIMARU” state tag.
