Mumbai: The highly speculated divorce between Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and Bigg Boss icon Dhanashree Verma was officially finalized on March 20, 2025. As part of the settlement, Chahal has agreed to pay ₹4.75 crore in alimony, of which ₹2.37 crore has already been paid.

Expedited Divorce Due to IPL Commitments

According to reports, the Bombay High Court fast-tracked the divorce proceedings due to Chahal’s commitments with the Kings XI Punjab team in IPL 2025, which starts on March 21.

• The mandatory six-month cooling-off period under the Hindu Marriage Act was waived by the High Court to allow both parties to finalize their mutual consent divorce.

• Chahal’s lawyer confirmed the divorce decree, stating, “The court has accepted the joint petition of both parties. They are no longer husband and wife.”

Alimony Dispute and Settlement

Initially, reports speculated that Dhanashree Verma had demanded ₹60 crore in alimony, which her family later denied.

• Final Alimony Amount: ₹4.75 crore

• Amount Paid So Far: ₹2.37 crore

• Remaining Balance: To be settled as per court order

On March 19, the Mumbai Family Court initially rejected the cooling-off plea as Chahal had only paid ₹2.37 crore at the time, citing non-compliance with the agreed amount. However, the remaining alimony payment was later confirmed, allowing the proceedings to move forward.

Netizens React to the Divorce

Following the official separation, social media platforms were flooded with memes targeting both Chahal and Dhanashree. Several users speculated about the cryptic message on Chahal’s black t-shirt during the final hearing, interpreting it as a subtle dig at his ex-wife.
