Ranchi, Oct 4: As many as 500 CCTV cameras are to be installed at all the 42 railway stations of Ranchi Railway Division with a target to complete the installations at all the stations by the year 2022.

Ranchi Railway Division’s Senior DSC Prashant Yadav said that in view of the safety of the passengers, CCTV cameras will be installed. The installation of all the CCTV cameras at all stations will happen in a phased manner keeping the most sensitive stations in priority.

“At present CCTV cameras are installed at Ranchi, Hatia and Muri stations,” he further added.

He also said that in order to strengthen the security of railway passengers, a proposal has been made to install cameras at the station under the Nirbhaya Fund.

After getting approval from the headquarters, work has been started in this direction.  A centralized control room will be set up at Hatia for online monitoring of stations and premises.  All these CCTV cameras will be installed at grade B, C, D and E category stations.

Video recordings from CCTV cameras can be preserved for 30 days.  The officers of RPF will be able to use it and the officers authorized with the network management system will be able to monitor cameras through a web browser from any place.
