New Delhi, Sept 27: Vinai Kumar Saxena, the lieutenant governor of Delhi, scored a major victory on Tuesday when the Delhi High Court ordered the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to remove the allegedly defamatory statements against him on social media.
L-G Saxena filed a request for restraining orders against the AAP and its officials on September 22 in response to “false” claims made against him and his family.
The L-G was allegedly implicated in a scam worth allegedly Rs 1,400 crore, according to the AAP, while serving as the head of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC).
Atishi Singh, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Durgesh Pathak, Sanjay Singh, and Jasmine Shah are the AAP leaders who Saxena requested an injunction order against for spreading false and defamatory articles against him online.
Justice Amit Bansal also passed an interim order restraining the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its leaders from making allegations of corruption against Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena.
He has also sued the political party and its five leaders for Rs 2.5 crore in damages and compensation plus interest. L-G Saxena had written the AAP a legal notice on September 5 ordering them to “stop and desist” from disseminating false information against him.
