Gayaji: Political tremors shook Bihar’s election season when two RJD legislators were spotted on stage during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public rally in Gayaji. The surprising appearance of Nawada MLA Vibha Devi and Rajouli MLA Prakash Veer at the NDA-led event has sparked fresh speculation about possible defections ahead of the polls.
Spotlight on Vibha Devi’s Presence
Vibha Devi, wife of former RJD MLA Rajballabh Yadav, drew particular attention. Yadav was recently acquitted in a POCSO case after serving a life sentence, and rumours of his family’s tilt toward the BJP have circulated ever since. Her presence at Modi’s event, alongside NDA stalwarts including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has strengthened speculation that she may be preparing to cross over.
Congress Reacts to the Buzz
Congress MLA Pratima Das reacted to the development, saying in Patna that democracy allows leaders to move freely across platforms. “Elections are knocking at the door and everyone is free to be anywhere in democracy. Many leaders from BJP have also joined our party. It’s not like one must always stay with the party where their political career began,” she said.
Defection Speculation Ahead of Polls
While neither legislator has formally announced a switch, their appearance at the Prime Minister’s rally has intensified talk of political realignment. With Bihar headed into a high-stakes election, such moves could significantly impact the balance of power in the state.
