Ranchi: A sharp exchange took place in the Jharkhand Assembly during the Budget Session as MLA C.P. Singh raised the issue of recruitment of AYUSH doctors, leading to a verbal sparring with Minister Irfan Ansari over the functioning of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC).
Concern Over Vacant AYUSH Posts
C.P. Singh pointed out that out of 670 sanctioned posts in AYUSH hospitals across the state, only 48 doctors are currently working. He also questioned the delay in forming the AYUSH Directorate and demanded clarity on when vacant positions would be filled. Singh stressed that ensuring adequate healthcare services is the government’s responsibility.
Minister Says Recruitment Process Underway
Responding to the concerns, Minister Irfan Ansari stated that the recruitment process has already begun and a requisition has been sent to JPSC. However, C.P. Singh took a jibe at the minister, remarking sarcastically that he might not even remember the full form of JPSC. He further said that the requisition for AYUSH recruitment had been sent to JPSC in 2022, and nearly four years have passed without completion of the process.
‘You Are Very Knowledgeable,’ Minister Retorts
In reply, the minister also responded sarcastically, saying, “You are very knowledgeable.” He added that the recruitment advertisement would be issued by March 7 and assured that appointments would be completed soon.
