Patna: Bihar Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav has targeted the NDA government, alleging that it betrayed women by failing to deliver promised benefits under the Chief Minister Women Employment Scheme.
Allegations Over Pending Payments
In a post on X, Tejashwi claimed that the government misled women with false promises and exploited their emotions. He said lakhs of beneficiaries are still waiting for installments under the scheme.
According to his claim, 18 lakh women did not receive the first installment, while more than one crore Jeevika Didis and other women have not received the second installment.
About the Scheme
The Bihar government had announced that eligible women would receive Rs 10,000 each under the employment scheme before the Assembly elections. The plan was approved on August 30, 2025, during the tenure of then Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Installments Released Earlier
The first major transfer was made on September 26, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent funds to 75 lakh women through video conferencing. Later, Nitish Kumar transferred money to another 25 lakh women.
On November 28, funds were reportedly sent to 10 lakh more women beneficiaries.
Political Issue Before Elections
With more than five months passed since the elections, Tejashwi has now raised questions over unpaid installments, making the issue a fresh political flashpoint in Bihar.
