Jamshedpur, Aug 5: Tata Steel on Wednesday evening conducted the closing ceremony of its Ethics Month -2021, on a virtual platform.
The month-long celebration in July commemorated the values of integrity, unity, excellence, understanding, and responsibility, a hallmark of the Tata group.
It marked the end of a month-long celebration to reinforce Tata Steel`s commitment to ethics.
The theme for Ethics Month 2021 was “Resilience through empathy and kindness”.
The virtual event was attended by T. V. Narendran, CEO and managing director, Tata Steel, and Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary, president, Tata Workers’ Union along with other senior officials from Tata Steel and its group companies.
In his address, T. V. Narendran said, “If we look back at our more than 100 years old journey, we have faced many challenging moments and sailed through it with the support of our people, stakeholders, and community. I firmly believe that this time too, we will overcome these unprecedented times and demonstrate ourselves again as a resilient organisation. Being resilient, caring, and responsible has always been in the DNA of Tata Steel.”
Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary highlighted the fact that Tata Steel has always been empathetic towards the need of its various stakeholders even in the testing times of the Covid-19 pandemic.
He stressed the need of coming out of this crisis stronger and urged everyone to play an important role to reaffirm Tata Steel`s commitment to ethics.
Every year, the month of July is celebrated in Tata Steel as the Ethics Month in keeping with the tradition of inculcating ethical practices in the workplace.
This year, various competitions were organised such as team video challenge, storytelling contest and photography contest.
For employees’ children, poster and essay competitions were organised.
For the school children, a virtual session on “Importance of Ethics and Values for a better society” was organized wherein more than 800 students from 17 schools participated.
In addition to these events, Ethics Zone, Ethical dilemma- “Ab Kya Karein”, webinars, discussions, debate competition and an online musical event were also organised to reinforce the value of ethics amongst the employees.
Inter-company competitions were also organised among Tata Steel group companies, where employees participated.
More than 9500 employees across various Tata Steel locations participated in various online events.
An online session was also organised with Padma Shree Sudha Murty, chairperson, Infosys Foundation during the month-long celebrations.
The concluding ceremony included the announcement of winners in various competitions held during the month.
