Patna, Jan 28: Angry mobs including student organisations and political parties shut Bihar on Friday due to problems in the results of RRB-NTPC examination. Workers of seven political parties including RJD, Congress, JAP, CPI, CPM, CPI-ML and VIP of Bihar were seen on roads in support of railway candidates. RJD workers stopped the Bihar Sampark Kranti in Darbhanga.
Meanwhile, JAP workers stopped trains in Bhagalpur and Supaul. There have also been reports of a clash breaking out between the workers of Pappu Yadav’s party JAP and the police at Dakbangla intersection in Patna. At the same time, members of SFI (Students Federation of India) also demonstrated in front of Rail Bhawan in New Delhi against the brutal actions of UP and Bihar Police.
RJD MLA Dr. Mukesh Roshan from Mahua set ablaze the road and blocked it at Ramshish Chowk of Hajipur Nagar, Vaishali. They raised slogans against the government, while long queues of vehicles were noted on the main roads including Hajipur-Muzaffarpur, Hajipur-Chhapra and Hajipur-Samastipur. A crane was blocked and used on the roads for demonstration in Jehanabad. However, several peaceful demonstrations have also been reported in Patna, Muzaffarpur, Saharsa, Bhagalpur, Gopalganj so far.
Earlier, JDU National President Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh late on Thursday night has stated, ‘Railways and police should immediately withdraw the cases registered against the teachers that help in making a students’ future.’ He had also appealed to the agitated students for peace.
Meanwhile, CPI-ML and Mahagathbandhan workers were seen demonstrating on roads in support of Bihar Bandh in Jehanabad. Appealing to the people to make Bihar Bandh a success, protests were organised while burning tires at Arwal More, Kako, Makhdumpur and other places in Jehanabad.
Rajya Sabha MP and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Modi, on the other hand, supported the students. He has said in a tweet that the administration should not take coercive action against students and teachers.
“The protest became political, pposition parties don’t seem to be protesting with students but against the government,” he said.
In Sheohar, the leaders of the Mahagathbandhan protested and closed all the shops in the city. During this, slogans were raised fiercely against the central and state governments while demanding the release of the arrested students.
Keeping in mind the ruckus at the terminal and Bhikhna pahari, the police administration is all set to help keep the bandh peaceful. In view of the bandh, about two and a half thousand security forces have been deployed in several districts including Patna. Police are deployed around every chowk, public places, government buildings and monuments of the city. The police, however, will be focusing on Dak Bungalow Chauraha, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, New and Old Bypass, Patna Junction area, Secretariat Halt, Ashok Rajpath and Baripath, where most of the students’ hostels are located.
Meanwhile, Railway Police will also be stationed at Patna Junction, Rajendranagar Terminal, Patna Sahib, Danapur to Ara, Buxar, Gaya and other stations. Railway Police will be in touch with RPF and District Police.
Rail SP PK Mandal said that police will be stationed at every big and small stations of Patna rail district. Strict action will be taken against those who damage railway property, stop the train.
