New Delhi, May 18: The Central Bureau of Investigation arrested S Bhaskar Raman, a close colleague of Congress leader Karti P Chidambaram, in an ongoing visa corruption case.
According to sources, Congress leader Karti Chidambaram was involved in obtaining visas for Chinese workers for the Talwandi Sabo Power Limited project in exchange for a bribe of Rs 50 lakh. The bribing allegedly occurred in 2011, when Karti Chidambaram’s father, P Chidambaram, was the Union Home Minister.
Bhaskararaman was detained by the CBI late Tuesday evening and placed under arrest in the early hours of Wednesday, according to officials.
In connection with the investigation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted repeated searches at Karti Chidambaram’s home and office on Tuesday.
