Bijapur, Oct 17: A Naxalite was fatally shot on Tuesday morning during an encounter with security forces in Bandepara of Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh, as per an official statement.
The police have stated that they found an AK-47 rifle at the location as well.
“During a search, there was an encounter between police and Maoists in the forest of Bandepara on the morning of October 17. One Naxal was killed in the encounter between security forces and naxals in the forest of Bandepara,” P Sundarraj, the Inspector-General of Police of Bastar said.
Police report that additional search efforts are currently being conducted.
Earlier, on September 20 in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh, two female Naxalites were killed during a gunbattle with the District Reserve Guards (DRG).
