Dhanbad: BCCL engineer, wife crushed to death by car, son critical

Dhanbad, June 10: Engineer of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) Rana Das (45) and his wife  Mansi Das (35) died while their son Rishav Das (11) was critically injured at a late night road accident near Dhayya Rani Bandh under the Sadar police station.

The police official said the accident occurred around 12.15 am on Saturday. The victim  Rana Das (45) his wife  Mansi Das (35) and son Rishav Das (11) were returning to their  Bhelatand area based house on a bike when a speedy car (SUV) hit them from the front.

Rana Das died on the spot while his wife Mansi Das succumbed to her injury during treatment at a private hospital. The condition of son Rishav Das was also declared critical. After treatment at a private hospital, he was referred to Mission Hospital Durgapur.

The family members said Das was returning to his house after getting his son Rishav checked up by a doctor. The speedy car was coming on the wrong side of the road and hit them, All three flung into the air from the collision.

The police official said the uncontrolled car turned turtle after the incident. The car riders escaped from the spot after the incident. Police have seized the car and sent both bodies for postmortem at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital.

Rana Das was posted in the Lodna Area of Bharat Coking Coal Limited( BCCL) and had recently constructed a house in the Bhelatand area.

BJP  Mahanagar senior vice-president  Sanjay Jha expressed shock over the incident and demanded action against the car owner and other responsible persons for avoiding such type of incidents in the near future in the city.
