Dhanbad, Nov 30: The deputy superintendent of the Dhanbad Sadar hospital Dr Sanjiv Kumar resigned from his post just one month after joining following a row with the nodal officer.
In his resignation letter to the civil surgeon (CS) Dr Alok Vishwakarma which he shot off yesterday (November 29), Dr Sanjiv alleged that nodal officer Dr Rajkumar Singh has been constantly opposing his administrative directive to doctors and health staff in the hospital. Resulting, he finds himself unable to streamline the better service to patients. “So, relieve me from the additional responsibility of Sadar hospital deputy superintendent post,” he wrote in the letter.
Dr Sanjiv Kumar was made the deputy superintendent of Sadar hospital on October 17, 2022. The official records show that in one month (till November 28), he got 104 institutional delivery in the hospital including 38 cesareans. Before him, only 25 delivery cases were recorded in a month.
“Whatever decision I take being the deputy superintendent and issue any directive to the staff, the nodal officer (Dr Rajkumar Singh) directly or indirectly opposes that and instigates them to boycott the directives,” alleged Dr Sanjiv in his resignation letter. He also pointed out that the “so-called nodal officer” believes and claims that the administrative power of the hospital is vested in him. Due to this, misunderstanding and confusion prevail among the health staff.
“Since I also have an additional responsibility of the district reproductive child healthcare (RCH) and have to improve it, relieve me from Sadar hospital responsibility,” the letter further reads.
However, Dr Rajkumar Singh contradicted the charge by the deputy superintendent and said that he is not a “so-called nodal officer” albeit the deputy commissioner has appointed him.
“In fact, Dr Sanjiv is trying to make me a scapegoat for his failure in the hospital. I suggested him to work under the guidelines of the Indian Public Health Standard (IPHS) but he always ignored it. Moreover, his wrong roaster (12 hours of duty) triggered protests from doctors and staff of the hospital. I did not have a role in it,” said Dr Rajkumar.
Dr Singh further said that whatever achievement Dr Sanjiv claims, he also played a major role in performing the operations.
Dhanbad Civil surgeon Dr Alok Vishwakarma, when contacted, admitted to having received the resignation letter of Dr Sanjiv Kumar.
“I have asked both the doctors to establish coordination among them and work for the improvement of health services in the hospital. Dr Rajkumar Singh has been working at the hospital for a long time and has enough experience. The benefit of his vast experience could be utilized for better health services to the patients,” said the CS.
