Ranchi, June 15: The Institute of Chartered Financial Analysis of India (ICFAI) University on Wednesday innaugurated the 11th batch of the Part Time PhD Programme in Management 2022 through Video Conferencing. Dr S K Dubey, Director, IMS, BHU and Dr Chandra Mohan, Dean, Dept of Commerce and Business Management Central University of Tamil Nadu were present on the occasion as guests of honour.
Notably, several PhD Scholars were selected through the Online Research Aptitude Test on May 14, followed by interactive one-to-one discussions with each of the candidates. While 15 percent of the selected scholars have been working in academic institutions, rest of them has been working in organisations like CARE, Central Coalfields, Jharkhand Government, Punjab National Bank, PWC, RBI, SBI, UNDP etc in various locations across India. The average experience of these scholars is 12 years.
Welcoming the scholars, Prof O R S Rao, Vice-Chancellor, ICFAI University, Jharkhand said, “Our PhD programme is conducted strictly in accordance with the UGC Regulations 2016 and 2018. In line with the NEP-2020 and proposed UGC regulations of 2022, a course on Teaching Pedagogy is introduced as part of the Course Work so as to impart teaching skills in the Research Scholars.”
“While all of you have high aspirations, you need to take ownership for your PhD and work with passion, hard work and discipline so that you can achieve your aspirations”, added Prof Rao.
Addressing the scholars, Dr S K Dubey advised them to inculcate the habit of reading daily so that they are thorough with the basic concepts. He also exhorted to start writing articles right from the beginning.
“While choosing the topic, you must ensure that your thesis must add new original knowledge, and at the same time ensuring viability of data collection”, he added.
Appreciating the innovations made by the ICFAI University in its PhD programme, Dr Chandra Mohan said, “The PhD programme will help in your own self development by way of increasing self-awareness and problem solving capabilities.”
Dr Raj Kumar, Associate Professor of the university explained the programme structure and methodology followed for conduct of course work.
