Jamshedpur, Feb 22: Steel city of Jamshedpur is getting ready for the Founder’s Day celebration on March 3, which marks the birth anniversary of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata.
This year it will be the Founder’s 183rd birth anniversary.
Fresh coats of painting (yellow-black) are being applied at all the major roads in the city while horticulture and landscaping are being carried out at major roundabouts.
The scenic Jubilee Park is also getting illuminated but the entry of visitors would be restricted.
Other popular green lungs like Bhetiya Park (Kadma) and Nildih Park (in Nildih near Telco), the Jusco office and the PN Bose square in Bistupur are also getting illuminated for Founder’s Day.
The illuminations will be inaugurated by Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran on March 2.
East Singhbhum district administration has allowed Tata Steel to display the light illuminations in the city including Jubilee Park for three days only.
Heritage buildings in Jamshedpur including Tata Workers Union office, TMH, Directors Bungalow, Bharucha Mansion (Regal Building), Jamshedpur Eye Hospital, Clock Tower at Golmuri Golf Course, Postal Park, Sir Dorabji Tata Park, Beldih roundabout are among the 32 prominent spots that have been illuminated.
The trial for the illuminations was done on Monday evening.
The landmark Kadma-Sonari Link Road has been renovated and decked up. The walls along the road are being painted with 3D art depicting the history of Tata Steel and Jamshedpur.
The residents were elated with the preparations being done for the occasion.
“Founder’s Day is a great occasion for Jamshedpur. We look forward to this event every year. But, we will miss going inside the Jubilee Park this year because of Covid related restrictions,” said Asha Sharna, a homemaker in Bistupur.
