Jharkhand: Five medical colleges get 20 senior residents, tutors

Dhanbad, Nov 8: State government has appointed 20 senior residents and tutors in four departments of its five medical colleges for three years to cater the requirement of institutions.

As per notification and list issued by joint secretary of the state government two oldest institutions Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad and Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH) Jamshedpur have got highest six senior residents and tutors each.

Three newly set up institutions Mednirai Medical College Hospital (MMCH) Palamu and Phulo Jhano Medical College Hospital (PJMCH) Dumka got three each while Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) Hazaribagh has been given senior resident and tutor one each.

Among 20 doctors 13 are female and seven male.

In four department highest seven senior residents have been appointed in anaesthesia department followed by six tutors in microbiology and four tutors in biochemistry departments. Besides it one tutor each in anatomy while one each senior resident in radiology and Psychiatry faculty.

Appointment of Dr Swati Singh has helped Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital Dhanbad to continue Psychiatric department opened. The tenure of lone senior resident had been completed and on request of superintendent she was providing her service in the hospital so that patients do not return unattended.

The principal and superintendent of medical colleges said that despite these appointment, posts of senior residents and tutors are still vacant against sanctioned posts but for time being these enrolment of state government of course has given new lease of life to some department that had been gasping to run smoothly.
