Ranchi, March 22: A section of people ransacked the residence of Amar Pratap Singh alias Shubham Singh at Patra Gonda near Kanke Dam under the Gonda police station area in the Jharkhand capital.

The incident took place in the morning as Singh got agitated after he noticed prohibited meat in the residential campus and assaulted a boy responsible for keeping the meat there.

“As I was cleaning the floor, around 200 people attacked the house. Somehow I managed to escape. I lost my gold chain in order to fight with miscreants single-handedly. My elderly mother is still at home,” Singh, whose family members are in state police and central police, said when contacted for his comment.

Officer-in-charge of Gonda police station Ravi Thakur confirmed the incident saying it was the outcome of rivalry between two neighbours.

“This morning Singh assaulted a boy and neighbours, who were already angry with the Singh family, became agitated and called bad names for him standing outside his residence.  Getting information, we reached the spot and controlled the situation. The matter is blown out of proportion,” OC Thakur said, minimizing the incident.
