Daltonganj, Jan 1: Palamu SP Chandan Kumar Sinha has set different resolutions for his officers and himself in the New Year 2022. He declared it on the evening of December 31.
The first resolution is for the officers-in-charge and inspectors of police posted in the police stations. The OCs have been asked to meet visitors every day for one hour beginning 10 a.m. in the day. While the inspectors will meet with the public for one hour between 11 a.m. to 12 noon every day.
SDPOs too have been asked to meet visitors for one hour barring Sunday. Their time is 12 noon to 1p.m. in the day.
The SP has set a similar 12 noon to 1 p.m. slot for meeting with the public except Sunday.
In the event of exigency, officers having Sunday off will be available on this day too for the public, said the SP.
However, Sinha hastened to add that it does not mean that officers down the line will not meet the public beyond this hour.
The SP has been very careful with regard to journalists as no hour has been fixed for them. He has not set any time frame for his officials who sit and work in the police line.
A retired cop had this complaint when he said the police line ‘babus’ made him feel that they are no longer an asset but a liability. This ex-cop wanted the SP to have his office set up in order.
The SP has tried to convey an impression that this new time-bound police officers’ meeting with the public will help police in a makeover of its image.
